AmCham Shanghai hosted its Kunshan Government Appreciation Luncheon on November 2, attracting a wide range of senior government officials and AmCham Shanghai member companies. Senior level officials from the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai included Principal Commercial Officer, Cameron Werker and Outreach Unit Chief, Mary Sue Fields. Kunshan officials were headed up by Kunshan Vice Mayor Jin Ming.
Approximately 70 attendees gathered at Swissotel Kunshan over lunch to discuss the outlook for the city, and to thank the Kunshan government for its support. Chamber President Kenneth Jarrett stated in his remarks on the impressive status of Kunshan’s economic development as on the forefront of the whole nation, as Kunshan usually ranks as the top county for economic development in China. Cameron Werker mentioned that Kunshan’s economic development is in large part attributed to the collaboration between the government and the private sector. Kunshan Vice Mayor Jin Ming welcomed the opportunity to engage with companies on the business environment in Kunshan, and emphasized the importance of U.S. investment in Kunshan, where over 600 U.S. invested projects are already located.
